Love is in the air at the CMA Awards

Nov 02, 2012 -- 7:02pm

The CMA Awards were SOOO good last night.  Carrie and Brad were hilarious, as always!  But the other duo everyone is talking about...Blake and Miranda and their big wins.

Their acceptance speech for Song of the Year left me in tears and with good reason! Blake explained how the song was about his brother who passed away and backstage they talked about why winning this award was so important to them. Blake said, "We are proud of every single one of these things. That Song of the Year – Miranda is a songwriter first. For me, as a songwriter, that is as personal as I can get. That will have its own shelf, spotlights on it, an alarm, tripwires, landmines if you walk towards it. All that stuff. It's a real big deal to Miranda and I."

MIranda told People magazine, "It's been my goal since I started writing songs to write the song of the year, and I just won it with my husband. Who could ever dream that up? We're on a cloud right now, I can't even think, this night is all so unreal ... I've cried all night. ... My tough exterior is now disheveled."

They won Female and Male Vocalist of the Year separatly and I love what Miranda had to say about her win, "I kicked the door open and I'm going to hold my leg in there. I'm going to keep the door open for all the amazing female singer-songwriters that are coming out. I have the Pistol Annies; I'm a big fan of females in this business. We're going to do it. We're going to keep plowing through. It is a man's world a little bit, and we love the guys. But we're awesome, too."

My other favorite couple of the night...Thompson Square

Backstage Keifer said, "Shawna and I met almost 17 years ago ... from that first night we haven't been apart but about probably 10 or 15 days. I'm not sure why that is, but I know God put us together for a reason. I wanted this dream for her, she wanted it for me, we wanted it for each other."

Everyone together now "Awwwwwww!"
